Francisca Ordega's brace fires Washington Spirit past Sky Blue

The Super Falcons forward scored one goal in each half to help her side secure their first win of the season

Francisca Ordega scored her first brace of the season as Washington Spirit secured a 4-3 home victory over Sky Blue at the Maureen Hendricks Field on Sunday.

Ordega netted the first and fourth goal for the Spirit in the sixth and 56th minute respectively after Erin Simon's own goal and Havana Solaun's first half strike gave James Gabarra's ladies the lead.
However, Sarah Killion's brace in the second half plus Kelley O'Hara's strike could not help the visitors escape defeat in the seven-goal thriller.

The win moved Washington Spirit to seventh spot on the National Women Soccer League log with four points, while Sky Blues dropped to eight after the defeat.

The goals were the Super Falcons forward first and second strikes of the season in her second start for the Spirit.

Ordega's side will travel to face Seattle Reign at the Seattle High School Memorial Stadium in their next encounter on May 13.
