Experience Nourishing Delight With Ekpang Nkukwo

First of all, Cameroon, according to many is best known for football or her huge plantations but hey, the entertainment gurus over there have up the ante and are determined to change the mind sets of most Africans by organising one of the biggest movie events in Africa – The Cameroon Academy Awards also known as The Sonnah Awards.
The CAA 2013 will become the very first high profile event to be held in Cameroon to celebrate the invention, growth and maintainance of raw talents in the Cameroon arts.
It’s inception was no mistake at all and couldn’t have respected a better timing; especially when the country is been plagued with the demonic powers of corruption and brain-drain with youths (…with extraordinary talents) alarmingly so dependent on the government and not been able to be self employed. Adding to the fact that, the Cameroon Entertainment Awards, CEA , which actually successfully elaborated the nation’s arts in America – takes place in USA where most artists cannot afford the trip or even get a visa from the embassy.
“This is like a breath of fresh air to the nation as a whole. It will divert attention from politics to entertainment, for once We are gathering the best in entertainment into one star-studded event.” …Akim Macualey, CEO, Sonnah Awards.
The initiative is been built on a strong platform to celebrate entertainment and the country’s cultural heritage through the academies of cinema, music, fashion, sports, television and philanthropic efforts.
The Chairman of the Cameroon Academy Board, Dr. George King Aboagye expressed satisfaction and preparedness towards branding Cameroon’s showbiz to an international standard. “The CAA will be a consolidation of cinema, music, fashion, sport, arts and television into one major powerhouse show for the Cameroonian public”. He told pressmen.
For the first time, the Ministry of Culture and the national television are on board for this grand event – something rarely seen. The people can’t wait to see what this merge will bring forth; hoping it’s not all talk and no action. The list of nomination shall be put together by a panel of entertainment and arts experts from both within and out of Cameroon. Meanwhile, there will be Live Achievement Awards for some incredible brilliance portrayed by four most incredible and influential people who have given their all to push the country’s arts forward globally. They include: International saxophonist Manu Dibango, International Footballers Roger Milla and Samuel Eto’o Fils and veteran singer/performer Anne-Marie Nzie.
The first ever Cameroon Academy Awards is scheduled to hold on December 29 at the prestigious Hilton Hotel in Yaounde, Cameroon.
